Stellenbosch: All-inclusive Private Wine Tour & Tastings

About This Experience
This is the private option for people who would rather not share a minibus — a full day in a new SUV with one guide, one group, and an itinerary that can flex around what you actually want to drink.
The day opens with a drive through Stellenbosch covering the town's history and its Cape Dutch buildings, then moves out to a mix of boutique, historic and award-winning wineries, several of them off the route the larger coach tours take. There is a vineyard walk-and-talk as well as the tastings, so you get the growing side rather than only the tasting room.
The pricing is genuinely all-inclusive, which is unusual: tasting fees, food and wine pairings, a charcuterie platter of cheeses, cured meats, preserves, bread and crackers, bottled water, coffee and tea, a cellar tour where available — and gratuities — are all in the ticket. On most Winelands tours several of those are extra.
Because it is private, the group is yours alone, and the guide can adjust the estates to suit whether you want big reds, Cap Classique or small family producers. Let the operator know about food allergies or restrictions in advance.

Despite the bad weather, the wine tour with Lejean was very entertaining and highly recommended.
— Christian, May 17,
Our guide was amazing - so knowledgeable and fun. The wineries were gorgeous and the wine delicious - we loved the whole day.

We enjoyed a wonderful day with our tour guide Lejean. Her knowledge about Stellenbosch and its winerys is astonishing. We got picked up by her at 9:30 in a very clean and comfortable car. In total we visited 4 different vineyards, every one of them very special, beautiful and authentic. The wines we tasted were all of very high quality and it is even possible to order bottles and let them get delivered to our home in Switzerland. Lejean told us so much about the history, the wine making process and the differnt types of wines - she has a very professional, symphatic and kind personality. The cheese and chocolate wine paring experience was great and we even got to see 2 beautiful wine cellars. We highly recommend this tour and had one of our best days in South Africa. Thank you so much for this great experience. Greetings Vanessa & Pascal

Frequently Asked Questions
Are tasting fees really included?
Yes. Tasting fees, the food and wine pairings, the charcuterie platter, water, coffee and tea, and even gratuities are all covered by the ticket. Most Winelands tours charge tastings separately, so compare the total rather than the headline price.
Does this tour pick up in Cape Town?
No. It starts and finishes in Stellenbosch, and includes return transport to accommodation within 10 km of the town. If you are staying in Cape Town, choose a tour with city pickup instead.
Can we choose which estates to visit?
To a degree, yes — it is a private tour, so the guide can adjust the selection around the styles you want to taste, whether that is big Stellenbosch reds, Cap Classique or small family producers.
How long does the private tour last?
About six and a half hours, including a vineyard walk-and-talk, tastings at several estates and a cellar tour where available.
Can you cater for dietary restrictions?
Yes, but tell the operator in advance. The charcuterie platter can be adjusted if they know about allergies or restrictions before the day.
